Computers can quickly get bogged down with unnecessary files and
programs, all of which hinder system performance. It is
recommended that you tune up your PC if you feel it is running
slower. A PC tune-up generally takes one to two hours and
includes the following:
- Routine maintenance and removal of unnecessary programs
in memory and startup
- Removal of temporary and trash files
- Basic system troubleshooting
- Run diagnostic software to check for disk errors and fix
them if present
- Update virus software and check for viruses
- Install operating system patches and update drivers if
necessary
- Clean mouse, keyboard and monitor
- Check all cables
- Recommend and configure a backup strategy
- Defragment the hard drive to speed up and improve system
performance
We recommend you back up your important files about once a
month, depending on the importance of the files on your computer
and how often you use the computer. It is vital to back up
important files, because if there is a hard drive failure, or if
you get a virus, you could lose your data.
A PC tune-up will improve system performance and catch
potential problems before they happen. It will keep your
computer in good shape.
